KINSTON -- After scoring an average of 11 runs per game in their last three contest, the Kinston Indians couldn't buy one Wednesday night as the K-Tribe was shut out 3-0 by Myrtle Beach.

James Parr (6-6) picked up the win for Myrtle Beach, giving up just four hits and striking out five. Brad Nelson notched his first save of the season by throwing three hitless innings.

The K-Tribe was shut out for just the fourth time this season, wasting a good pitching performance by Jensen Lewis (7-6). Lewis pitched 51/3 innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs. Reid Santos and Kyle Collins combined for 32/3 hitless innings from the bullpen.

Myrtle Beach scored in the first inning on a two-out, RBI double by Mark Jurich. The Pelicans added two more runs in the fifth to avoid the sweep and snap a three-game losing skid.

Micah Schilling went 2-for-3 for the K-Tribe to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Chuck Lofgren (13-4, 2.20 ERA), with the most wins in the Carolina League this season, takes the mound for Kinston today at 7 p.m. as the Lynchburg Hillcats come to Kinston for a three-game series.
