PEARL, Miss. -- Adam Bostick pitched 61/3 scoreless innings, fanning 10, as Carolina blanked the Mississippi Braves 5-0 in the last game of their 10-game road trip at Trustmark Park on Wednesday night.

Bostick (6-7) notched the victory by stifling the Braves (17-23) on four hits. Bostick was ejected in the seventh for allegedly hitting Yunel Escobar intentionally with one out in the seventh inning.

Christopher Young and Scott Nestor combined to complete the shutout, Carolina's 10th of the season.

Josh Pressley tripled home J.C. Muniz in the third as Carolina took a 1-0 lead, then moved ahead 2-0 against starter Dan Smith (2-6) in the sixth when Escobar threw away a double-play grounder at first base, allowing Brett Carroll to score.

In the Mudcats' seventh, Carolina pushed across three unearned runs with two outs against Sean White. Two errors, one hit batsman followed by an infield hopping single by Carroll which was gloved above the third base line by Mike Rozema to score on run. Muniz doubled to left center to bring two more home as Carolina (14-26) pushed ahead 5-0.

The Mudcats ended their 10-game road trip 2-8, winning two of five in Mississippi after being swept five straight at Tennessee.

After a travel day today, the Mudcats open a 10-game homestand against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx at Five County Stadium at 7:15 p.m. on Friday with James Russ (5-8, 3.83) starting against Sean Gallagher (5-3, 3.14).
