K-Tribe sets record

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Ñ The Kinston Indians (47-22) set a franchise record for wins in a half of a season, notching No. 47 with a 9-4 victory Saturday night at Myrtle Beach.
Kinston overcame a 3-1 deficit, scoring eight runs in the top of the eighth inning.ÊÊ
With the bases loaded and no one out in the eighth inning, an error by Pelican third baseman Jaime Trejo off the bat of Stephen Head allowed Brandon Pinckney and Jordan Brown to score.ÊBrian Barton would score a batter later on a wild pitch, tying the score at four.ÊMicah Schilling would put the K-Tribe up for good with a two-RBI double giving the Indians a 6-4 lead. The Tribe sent 12 batters to the plate in the eighth, scoring eight runs.
Chris ÒDoodleÓ Hicks (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season, going 31Ú3 innings in relief and giving up one earned run. Scott Lewis started the game for the K-Tribe, going a season high 52Ú3 innings, giving up just two hits and no earned runs.
The K-Tribe ends the first half of the season today afternoon at 2 p.m at Myrtle Beach. Jensen Lewis will take the mound for Kinston.

The Kinston IndianÕs tied a franchise record for most wins in a half of a season with their 46th victory of the season at Myrtle Beach.
Rodney Choy Foo started off the beach party with a solo home run in the fourth inning, his first homer of the season. In the fifth inning, Argenis Reyes lead off with a walk, stole second and then advanced to third on an error. Jordan Brown brought Reyes home with a sacrifice fly, giving Kinston a 2-0 lead.
It got down to nail biting time in the ninth, when an error and a hit put runners at first and third with no outs in the bottom of the ninth for Myrtle Beach. With Kinston clinging to a 2-1 lead, a pop out on an attempted squeeze play and a 6-4-3 double play ended the game as Kinston held on for win number 46. T.J. Burton picked up his 12th save of the season.
Joe Ness (6-3) notched the win, going 62Ú3 innings and giving up three hits and no earned runs.
