FREDERICK, Md. -- The Kinston Indians completed a four-game sweep of the Frederick Keys with a 5-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Harry Grove Stadium.
Kinston has now won nine of 10 games this season against the Keys, sweeping Frederick for the second straight time, both coming at Harry Grove Stadium.
Brian Barton hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning to put the K-Tribe up 4-3. It was Barton's team-leading eighth home run this season, an opposite-field bomb to right. Caleb Brock added some insurance in the sixth, scoring on an error at third base after a Micah Schilling single.
The scoring started for the K-Tribe in the first when Rodney Choy Foo doubled home Matt Whitney. Brandon Pinckney added a run in the third inning, with his second home run of the year -- a solo shot to left field.
Chris "Doodle" Hicks picked up his first win of the year, throwing two innings of one hit ball. Scott Roehl got his third hold of the season, going two scoreless innings. T.J. Burton picked up his league leading 10th save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth.
The K-Tribe's (39-17) magic number is now down to eight, with 14 games to play. The Tribe continues their road trip tonight as they start a three game series at Wilmington. Joe Ness takes the mound at 7:05 for the K-Tribe.
