Lovett's HR

leads Tobs

Columbia, S.C. -- Mount Olive College's Erik Lovett's two-rune home run in the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie and the Wilson Tobs never looked back -- beating the Columbia Blowfish 5-3 at Capital City Stadium.

It was the Tobs' second straight victory after three losses to begin the season.

Wilson (2-3) played spoilers to Columbia's inaugural home game in the Coastal Plain League and the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Other stars for the Tobs included catcher Tyler Stovall, making his second start since joining the team Thursday. Stovall reached base four times, with a double, a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch, scoring two runs. Mike Flye earned the first Tobs save of the year, going the final three innings in relief of Chris Hill (1-0). Flye struck out four and gave up just one hit. Hill went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

Wilson returns home today to face the Florence RedWolves at Fleming Stadium.
