Mount Olive has signed two recruits to men's basketball national letters of intent, it was announced this week by head coach Bill Clingan. Mike Holloman and Brandon Plummer, both from Virginia, have signed NLI's to attend Mount Olive in the fall.

Holloman, a 6-2 guard from Virginia Beach, Va., helped lead Tallwood High School to a 27-3 mark this season and a berth in the Virginia AAA state semifinals. Holloman averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in 2005-06. He was named to the All-Beach District second team.

"Mike gives us a great athlete on the wing who can really finish around the basket," said Clingan. "We are extremely excited to have Mike at Mount Olive and we are looking for him to contribute quality minutes to our team next season."

Plummer, a 6-2 guard from Norfolk, Va., helped Booker T. Washington High School win the 2006 Virginia AAA state championship. Plummer earned All-State second team honors and was selected to the All-District first team. An honors graduate, Plummer averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season.

"Brandon is an exceptional player who can score in many different ways," said Clingan. "He has had great success at the high school level, having won a state championship this year. And not only is Brandon an outstanding athlete, he is also an excellent student."

Mount Olive finished with a 25-7 record in 2005-06 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship for the third year in a row.

The Trojans reached the East Regional semifinals last year after earning their first-ever trip to the Elite Eight in 2005. Mount Olive has posted three consecutive 20-win seasons, compiling a record of 77-20 (.794).
