Mount Olive is in the national rankings for the second time this season, placing in a four-way tie at No. 29 in this week's Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30, it was announced Monday.
The Trojans were also ranked No. 29 in the March 20 poll.
Mount Olive (35-12 overall, 15-9 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference) recently put together a 12-game winning streak, which included a doubleheader sweep over then-nationally fourth-ranked Catawba, which is ranked No. 8 in this week's poll. The Trojans have won 14 of their last 15 games.
Mount Olive collected 24 points in this week's poll to finish in a tie with Central Oklahoma, Lander (S.C.) and Slippery Rock (Pa.). Tampa (Fla.) remains at No. 1.
Mount Olive concluded regular season play over the weekend and finished in sole possession of third place in the CVAC standings. The Trojans are the No. 3 seed in this weekend's CVAC Tournament, hosted by Barton College.
The Trojans take on sixth-seeded Pfeiffer Friday at 1 p.m. at Wilson in the first round of the tournament. For the first time ever, the tournament champion earns an automatic berth in the South Atlantic Regional of the 2006 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
Mount Olive has won five CVAC Tournament championships, most recently in 2004.
