WILMINGTON, Del. -- Kinston managed just four hits as the Wilmington Blue Rocks shut out the visiting Indians 5-0 on Monday night at Frawley Stadium.

It was the first time K-Tribe was blanked this season.

The Blue Rocks started their scoring in the fourth inning when Jed Lowrie lead off the inning with a double, making it home on a sacrifice fly by Scott White two batters later.

Sean Smith (1-2) was the Indians' hard-luck loser, allowing just one run on four hits through six innings.

Wilmington poured it on in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring three more runs on four hits; the big blow coming on a two-RBI single by Jeffrey Corsaletti. Wilmington added one more run in the eight, when a Brandon Pinckney throwing error allowed Andrew Pinckney to score.

Wilmington starter Tommy Hottovy (1-1) picked up the win, giving up just two hits, while striking out seven in six innings. Blue Rock pitchers Beau Vaughan and Jason Richardson completed the shutout by pitching three scoreless innings to end the game.

The K-Tribe managed just two hits after the third inning and struck out a total of 12 times in the game.

The two teams will meet today at 6:35 p.m. for game two of the three game series.
