Charles B. Aycock's Ryan Campbell fired a 75 to lead the Golden Falcons to a non-conference win over North Lenoir and Wallace-Rose Hill on Monday at Lane Tree Golf Course.
Aycock finished with a team score of 312, while the Hawks (320) and Bulldogs (385) took second and third, respectively.
Austin Forrest (77), Will Vinson (78) and Michael Stevens (82) contributed to the Falcons win, helping their team improve to 1-1 on the season.
Thomas Faulkner claimed medalist honors for North Lenoir, shooting a 74. Will Norville (77), Logan O'Neal (81) and Blair Crews (88) also participated for the Hawks.
Aycock returns to action on March 13 in the opening Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference match at Southern Wayne Country Club.
Eagles cruise past Community
WILSON -- Wayne Christian's Matt Davis fired a 39 to take medalist honors as the Eagles claimed a 162-263 victory over Community Christian at Willow Springs on Monday.
It was the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference opener for both teams.
Clark Rose added a 41 for WCS (1-1, 1-0 CCC), while Eric Williams (42), Hayden Gardner (42), Andrew Radford (44) and Taylor Gardner (49) also participated for the Eagles.
WCS faces Cape Fear Christian today at Walnut Creek Country Club.
Softball Hawks remain unbeaten
BEULAVILLE -- North Lenoir's Connor Jordan struck out six against just one walk, holding East Duplin to one hit in the Hawks' 6-2 win on Monday.
Timon Jones had two hits for North Lenoir (4-0), while Heather White drove home two runs.
The Hawks travel to archrival South Lenoir today.
Rams tally first win
SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Sara Ribeiro had two hits and drove in one run to lead the Rams to a 4-1 win over Kinston on Monday.
Greene Central improved to 1-2 heading into a rematch with the Vikings on Wednesday at Kinston.
Cassie Webb picked up the win for the Rams, striking out 11 and yielding just two hits in seven innings of work.
Baseball GHS suffers road loss
WILSON -- Wilson Fike's Mike Brown and Tim Moore had two hits each in the Golden Demons' 24-0 win against Goldsboro on Monday.
Cedric McClary picked up the loss on the mound for the Cougars (0-2), who travel to Princeton on Wednesday.
Soccer Hawks down South Lenoir
DEEP RUN -- North Lenoir's Katie Maloney tallied a natural hat trick (three straight goals) as the Hawks defeated South Lenoir, 7-1 on Monday at the Blue Devils field.
Haley Bright added two goals for the Hawks (4-0), while Sara Farmer and Sasha Holloman had one goal each.
Courtney Lee had the lone goal for South Lenoir (0-2), which is fielding a team for the first time in school history.
North Lenoir hosts Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.
JV baseball Walks plague CBA on road
VANCEBORO -- Charles B. Aycock's Will Edgerton had a triple and two RBI and proved to be lone offensive standout in a 10-4 loss at West Craven on Friday.
The Golden Falcons (1-1) walked a total of 12 batters in the non-conference loss.
Edgerton got the loss on the mound for Aycock, which hosts Greenville Rose today.
Middle schools
Norwayne baseball 15, Spring Creek 0 -- Norwayne's Connor Narron had three hits, including a double and a home run, while Tyler Ruffin added two hits and picked up the win on the mound in five innings of work. Spring Creek's Devon Boseman posted three hits for the Gators. Norwayne (2-0) hosts Rosewood on Wednesday.
