Teneal Boone scored 20 points and matched a career high with 17 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Mount Olive fell to Pfeiffer 71-55 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's basketball Thursday at Misenheimer.

The loss snapped Mount Olive's three-game winning streak and also snapped a streak of three consecutive games scoring more than 70 points.

Mount Olive (10-7 overall, 5-5 CVAC) held an early three-point lead, but Pfeiffer (9-8, 5-5) went on a 16-3 run and built the lead to double figures. Tamara Clay recorded six of her eight steals in the first half, several of which she finished with fastbreak layups.

Alisa Jones' three-point play pulled the Trojans within 23-14 with 10:10 left in the half, but Pfeiffer went back ahead by double figures and built the lead to as many as 19 points in the first half. The Falcons hit four three-pointers in the first half.

Mount Olive made a run in the final 30 seconds of the half as Jones hit a layup off of an assist by Bokeeter Mozee, Meaghan Vanderhorst hit a pair of free throws and Boone blocked a field goal attempt to bring the Trojans within 45-30 at halftime.

Anita Rogers opened the second half with a three-pointer and Ebony Green followed with a basket to cut Pfeiffer's lead to 45-35. But a six-minute Trojan scoring drought enabled Pfeiffer to build the lead to 17 points.

Boone's three-point play off an offensive putback capped a 9-2 run and pulled the Trojans within 56-46 with 9:16 remaining. Mount Olive had two opportunities to cut the lead to single digits, but was unable to capitalize and Pfeiffer extended the lead to 14 points.

The Trojans finally brought Pfeiffer's lead under 10 points when Tomeka Prichard's three-pointer with 4:40 remaining pulled Mount Olive within 62-53. But the Trojans were held without a field goal the rest of the game.

Jones finished with 10 points for Mount Olive, while Green and Prichard narrowly missed double-doubles of their own. Green scored eight points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds, while Prichard finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Mount Olive outrebounded Pfeiffer 53-31, but the Trojans committed 28 turnovers, which led to 30 Pfeiffer points.

Clay led four Pfeiffer players in double figures with a game-high 21 points.

Mount Olive returns to action Saturday as the Trojans play host to Limestone in a CVAC matchup for the 23rd Annual Mount Olive Basketball Church Night. Mount Olive held Limestone without a field goal in the final six minutes and erased a 16-point deficit, but Limestone hit a free throw with eight seconds left to beat the Trojans 62-61 in the first meeting in December. Tipoff is 5 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
