The first half of the 2005-06 season has been a season of streaks for the Mount Olive women's basketball team. The Trojans hope they can keep their current streak going.

Mount Olive puts its three-game winning streak on the line tonight as the Trojans travel to Misenheimer to take on Pfeiffer in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's basketball. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.

A live audio Webcast is available on the Mount Olive College athletics Web site at www.moc.edu/athletics. the pregame show begins at 5:15 p.m.

Mount Olive (10-6 overall, 5-4 CVAC) is coming off a 73-64 win at Coker on Monday. A Coker basket in the final seconds prevented the Trojans from winning by double digits for the third straight game.

Mount Olive's two seniors were instrumental in the win: Guard Anita Rogers helped stake the Trojans to a 22-point lead and forward Teneal Boone helped stop a rally in the final minutes. Rogers scored a career-high 18 points and sparked an early second-half run with seven points in 77 seconds. Boone added 13 points and eight rebounds, and scored on three consecutive possessions late in the game to seal the win.

Boone continues to lead Mount Olive in scoring and rebounding with 14.6 points and 9.6 boards per game. While Boone is the only Trojan averaging double figures for the season, three freshmen are at or near the double-figure mark during the current winning streak.

Guard Tomeka Prichard is averaging 14.3 points per contest during the streak, while guard Meaghan Vanderhorst has a 12.3 average in the last three games. Forward Alisa Jones, who recorded her second collegiate double-double Saturday against Lees-McRae, is averaging 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds during Mount Olive's winning streak.

Pfeiffer (8-8, 3-5) is coming off a 67-65 win Monday at St. Andrews. Ashley Crenshaw scored 17 points and hit what proved to be the game-winning three-pointer with 15 seconds left in the game.

Mount Olive and Pfeiffer split their two meetings last season, each team winning on its home court. The Trojans won the first meeting 77-62, while Pfeiffer won the rematch 64-62 in overtime. Boone pulled down 12 rebounds in the first meeting and posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the second meeting.

The Trojans enter tonight's contest in sole possession of fourth place in the CVAC standings, one game out of third place and one game ahead of four teams tied for fifth. Pfeiffer is part of that four-way tie.

Mount Olive's current streak is the Trojans' third of at least three wins. The Trojans opened the season with a 4-0 mark, then won three in a row to improve to 7-1. Mount Olive then went on a five-game losing skid before starting its current winning streak.
