Prep roundup -- Faith girls snap three-game slide

Natalie Thibeaux tallied 11 points and Faith Christian snapped a three-game losing streak with a 36-19 victory over Trinity Christian-Greenville on Friday evening.

Thibeaux pulled down eight rebounds for the Conquerors, who rose to 3-2 against Class 2-A N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region competition. Faith Christian (7-5) plays host to Liberty Christian-Fayetteville on Monday.

Amie Hill and Elizabeth Clarke each grabbed 11 rebounds for the Conquerors. Renee Provencal played a steady floor game with two points, four assists and five steals.

Spencer Bakalar led Trinity with seven points.

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Three Spring Creek players -- Tomeka Pride, Brittani Billups and Tasha Whitfield -- each notched a double-double in a 63-50 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference archrival North Duplin.

Pride tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds. Billups, a sophomore, delivered 16 points and 10 rebounds. Whitfield contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Gators, who evened their Carolina worksheet at 2-2.

"We played four quarters of great defense and that's what won the ball game for us," said second-year Spring Creek coach Mandy Ramfjord.

Sierra Ward and Lauren Blackmore collected 18 and 10 points, respectively, for the Rebels. North Duplin (5-5, 1-3) entertains Rosewood next Tuesday.

Spring Creek (3-15) travels to North Johnston next Tuesday.

Rosewood

erupts late

Rosewood erupted for 19 fourth-quarter points and turned back archrival Princeton 49-39 in Carolina 1-A Conference action Friday evening.

The teams were tied at 30-30 after three periods of play.

Shanita Monroe led the Eagles, unbeaten in four league contests, with 13 points. Courtney Hill added 10.

Ci Ci Sanders poured in a game-high 23 points for Princeton.

Rosewood (11-2) is the guest of North Duplin next Tuesday, while Princeton (10-6, 2-2) entertains winless Ayden-Grifton.

Chargers grab

CPIC home win

Tiara Broadie seized game-high scoring honors with 21 points in Wayne Country Day's 44-37 victory over Rocky Mount Academy in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference action Friday evening.

Junior Georgia Crow chipped in seven points for the Chargers, who earned their first league win of the season.

Wayne Country Day (4-10) plays host to Faith Christian-Rocky Mount on Monday.

Eagles suffer

CCC 1-A defeat

FAYETTEVILLE -- Brooke Norris led a balanced offensive attack, but Wayne Christian endured a 58-33 loss at Village Christian on the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference scene Friday.

Norris grabbed seven rebounds, while Michelle Krug contributed seven points.

Hope Wright contributed six points and seven rebounds.

Wayne Christian (7-12, 4-5 CCC) travels to Cape Fear Christian next Tuesday.

Boys

Toran, McIntyre

lead Rosewood

Clarence Toran and Stephen McIntyre combined for five 3-pointers in Rosewood's 56-50 victory over archrival Princeton in Carolina 1-A Conference action Friday evening.

Toran finished with 15 points and McIntyre scored 13 for the Eagles, who picked up their first league win of the season.

"The difference was the fourth quarter," said Rosewood coach Daniel Mitchell, whose team outscored the Bulldogs 14-7. "We probably had our best defensive effort all season (and) the second half was a total team effort."

Kyle Bunn added 11 points for Rosewood, which rose to 3-13 overall.

Patrick Bunch and Ryan Daughtry paced the Bulldogs with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Princeton fell to 7-11 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Wayne Christian

claims thriller

FAYETTEVILLE -- Wayne Christian climbed above the .500 mark in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference play with a 66-59, double-overtime victory at Village Christian on Friday.

Billy Smith drained two free throws with two seconds left to force the first overtime. Adam Brannan sank two free throws and Nick Woods converted a layup for a 57-57 tie, which led to the second OT.

Brannan, Woods and Jordan Yelverton combined for nine points in the second four-minute session as the Eagles improved to 5-4 in CCC play.

Woods led four Wayne Christian players in double figures with 19 points. Yelverton added a double-double -- 18 points, 12 rebounds. Brannan chipped in 12 points and dished out five assists. T.A. Brannan contributed 10 points.

Wayne Christian (10-9) travels to Cape Fear Christian next Tuesday.

Spring Creek

prevails at home

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Dalreese Bell sizzled the nets for a game-high 21 points and Cliff Wilson handed out eight assists in Spring Creek's 69-64 victory over archrival North Duplin in Carolina 1-A Conference action.

The Gators (7-11) climbed into a second-place tie with North Johnston at 3-1 in the league.

Desmond Raeford recorded a double-double -- 11 points, 10 rebounds. David Harris registered 13 points, six assists and four rebounds. Wilson finished with six points and four rebounds.

Chris Graham led the Rebels with 22 points, while teammate Montreal Garner added 13.

Spring Creek visits North Johnston next Tuesday. North Duplin (0-10, 0-4) plays host to Rosewood.

Wright, Weeks

spark Chargers

Adam Wright and Phillip Weeks turned in strong scoring performances in Wayne Country Day's 82-72 victory over state-ranked Rocky Mount Academy in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play Friday evening.

Wright burned the nets for 17 of his game-high 34 points in the fourth quarter. Weeks used his muscle to tally 19 points, including 15 in the opening half.

Wright's two 3-pointers erased a six-point deficit against the Eagles, who are ranked No. 4 in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 2-A poll.

"We went to a spread offense from there and pulled away," said first-year Chargers coach Chad Wiggins.

Wright pulled down 11 rebounds.

Tavon Waters contributed 20 points and eight assists. Jeff Franklin added eight points and nine rebounds.

Wayne Country Day (14-6, 3-0 CPIC) entertains Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday.

Sladick, Sasser

lead Faith Christian

Aaron Sladick turned in a 26-point performance and T.J. Sasser buried six 3-pointers in Faith Christian's 63-49 victory over Trinity Christian-Greenville in N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region play Friday evening.

Sasser finished with 22 points for the Conquerors.

Faith Christian entertains Liberty Christian-Fayetteville on Monday.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Jacob Pendleton had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Golden Falcons defeated Southern Wayne 50-43 on Friday.

Jonathan Williams added nine points for the Golden Falcons, who picked up their third win of the season and first in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play.

Southern Wayne's Paris Armwood led the Saints with 11 points.

Aycock faces Eastern Wayne at home on Tuesday, while Southern Wayne hosts Wilson Hunt.

Sophomore Tavon Murchison posted a double-double -- 18 points, 10 rebounds -- in Goldsboro's 64-60 loss against Eastern Plains 2-A rival North Lenoir on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore Jamal Rouse pumped in a team-high 20 points and dished out three assists for the Cougars. Kevonta McDuffie contributed seven points and 10 rebounds.

Goldsboro (8-5, 2-1 EPC) travels to North Pitt next Tuesday.

Kameron Byrd poured in a game-high 28 points in Wayne Country Day's 63-47 victory over Rocky Mount Academy on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A scene Friday afternoon.

David Wilson added 18 points for the Chargers, who remained unbeaten in five CPIC contests.

Four players scored seven points each in Rosewood's 52-25 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference archrival Princeton on Friday afternoon.

Joseph Person, Joey Boyette, Sean Korman and Taylor Allen shared team-high scoring honors -- seven points -- for the Eagles.

Tyrone Smith led Princeton with seven points.

Wilson Hand emerged Faith Christian's top scorer with 11 points in a 46-18 victory over Trinity Christian-Greenville on Friday afternoon.
