Wayne Christian girls fall at home

Wayne Christian's Michelle Krug posted nine points in the Eagles' 67-32 loss at home to Village Christian on Friday at Clifford Gymnasium.

Katie Daniels contributed six points and eight rebounds, while Brittany Sullivan also had six points.

Wayne Christian (2-8, 1-3 Carolina Christian 1-A Conference) returns to action on Thursday at Flora MacDonald.

Eagles continue

Wayne Christian's Hanna Kaler turned in a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles remained unbeaten in eight outings with a 36-20 win at home over Village Christian.

Charlie Ipock added eight points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Eagles, who improved to 4-0 in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference play. Jennifer Price contributed 10 rebounds, while Shelle Anderson pulled down nine boards.

Wayne Christian travels to Flora MacDonald on Thursday.

Cardinals top

Goldsboro

Goldsboro's Denzel Crawford had a team-best 15 points in the Cougars' 62-54 loss to Jacksonville on Saturday.

Javarus Simmons added 13 points for Goldsboro (5-2), while Jamel Valentine chipped in nine.

James Daniels and Antonio Ward posted 17 points each for the Cardinals.

The Cougars visit Eastern Wayne on Tuesday.

Hawgs Breath

Bass Club

The Hawgs Breath Bass Club held its monthly tournament on Dec. 10 at Buckhorn Reservoir. Ray Burrell teamed up with John Walsh to weigh-in over 16 pounds of fish including Burrell's biggest catch of 5.63 pounds. Second place went to the team of Joe Moye and Mike Norwood. Next month's tournament will be held Jan. 14 at Roanoke Rapids Lake.
