KINSTON -- After a month-long search the Indians have their man. Chris Hemeyer will enter his first season in Minor League Baseball as the director of broadcasting for the Kinston Indians. Hemeyer was the top choice out of an extremely competitive field of more than 50 candidates.

"Chris certainly stood out from the others," said Indians General Manager Marty Wheeler. "He is one of those that can be considered a wish-list personality -- everyone wishes that they can have him as an employee. Fortunately for us, we were able to have him join our team."

Chris Hemeyer comes to the radio booth after covering the team for WCTI-TV 12 for the past three seasons.

Hemeyer is no stranger to Grainger Stadium, with weekly K-Tribe insider sports features and coverage of the team as WCTI's weekend sports anchor.

Hemeyer is a native of Columbia, Missouri and a graduate of the University Of Missouri School Of Journalism.

Hemeyer did play-by-play on both radio and television for baseball, basketball and football broadcast during his years in the Midwest. He recently handled play-by-play duties for C-TV 10 Broadcast of New Bern Bears football here in eastern North Carolina.
