Quartet to be inducted in Rosewood Hall of Fame

Four inductees comprise the second class slated for induction into the Rosewood High School Hall of Fame during halftime of today's football contest against archrival Princeton.

The inductees are Donnie Earl Peedin (1972-1998), James "Tiny" Reid (1970-74), Robert Timothy Lucas (1972-76) and Ronald Lynn Poulson (1974-76).

Peedin, who passed away in May of 1999, taught math and coached at Rosewood for 26 years. He coached the junior high baseball team and finished his career as the varsity boys basketball coach.

Reid played on Rosewood's first organized junior high football team in 1969 which finished the season 6-0. Reid earned three varsity letters in football and basketball, and served as co-captains of both teams in 1973-74. Each team reached the state finals Reid's senior year. He played at Lenoir-Rhyne College and eventually served in the Marine Corps. Reid works with N.C. Corrections and resides with his family in Creedmoor.

Lucas started at quarterback in football and played forward in basketball. Lucas earned all-conference honors in both sports, but also received recognition as an all-state player in basketball. The Eagles emerged state runner-up in football and basketball during Lucas' sophomore year (1974). He played on the junior varsity basketball team at UNC Chapel Hill. Lucas is a counselor and basketball coach at Stone Bridge (Va.) High School.

Poulson garnered all-conference honors during his junior and senior seasons in football and basketball. He intercepted seven passes and 12 in his career, and helped the Eagles finish fourth in the state in 1976. Named the school's male athlete of the year, Poulson is currently the associate professor of Psychology and acting departmental chair for Social and Behavorial Sciences at St. Augustine's College.
