Trojans preseason No 1 in CVAC

Mount Olive received eight of 11 first-place votes and was picked No. 1 in the 2005-06 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, it was announced Monday. The Trojans received 98 points and finished seven points ahead of second-place Pfeiffer.
Mount Olive earned a share of its second CVAC regular season title, posting an 18-2 mark in conference play to finish tied for first with Pfeiffer in the conference standings. Mount Olive swept the regular season home-and-home conference series against every team except Pfeiffer. The Trojans advanced to the championship game of the CVAC Tournament for the second consecutive year.
Pfeiffer picked up the remaining three first-place votes and garnered 91 points. Erskine and Queens tied for third in the poll with 73 points apiece.
