PIKEVILLE -- Bradley Taylor, Joseph Toler and Will Spence had two hits each as Aycock's Junior Legion team defeated Snow Hill 8-0 on Wednesday at home.

Zach Wright added a solo home run in the third inning, while Taylor smacked a two-run blast to put Aycock up 8-0. Jay Rose reached on three walks.

Bryant Hill picked up the win for Aycock (8-8, 3-5), which hosts Wayne County on Friday. Hill gave up just two hits with three strikeouts in a complete-game shutout -- throwing just 71 pitches. The Aycock defense turned in an errorless effort.

Justin Bagley endured the loss for Post 94 (3-9, 3-5). Bagley and Trey Beamon had one hit each for Snow Hill, which hosts Pitt County East today.

Wayne-Pitt County

GREENVILLE -- An afternoon thunderstorm canceled Wayne County's Senior American Legion team's trip to Pitt County Post 39 on Wednesday.

The rain-out was Post 11's second in as many days with essentially no room on the schedule for make-up games. Wayne County has games scheduled the next five days, including a home contest against Beaufort County tonight at 7 p.m.

Post 11 (15-4 overall) enters the game with a 10-2 division mark, while Beaufort County is 11-5 overall and in the division.

The Area I East playoffs are scheduled to start on July 6.

12-under BR District Tournament

KENLY -- Wayne County 12, Johnston County 2 -- Jimmy Joyner pitched a complete game, yielding only two runs on four hits as Wayne County claimed the loser's bracket contest. Wayne County faces the loser of Greene County and Wilson County today at 6:30 p.m. Bradley Wilson led Wayne County offensively with three hits, while Tyler Farmer, Derek Limbaugh and Will Broadwell added two hits each.

10-under BR District Tournament

KENLY -- Wayne County 16, Greene County 3 -- Adam Pate had four hits, including two home runs, and nine RBI as Wayne County advanced to the championship game on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. and will face the winner of Greene County and Wilson County. Pate ended the game with a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth. Raymond Sherman and Reed Howell combined for five strikeouts and yielded only two hits and added two hits each at the plate.
