VANCEBORO -- Charles B. Aycock's Santavin Poole scored a team-high 23 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Golden Falcons claimed a 76-74 win at West Craven on Monday.

The victory was Aycock's first in four, Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference outings as it improved to 3-6 overall.

Rob Phillips added 15 points and four assists for the Falcons, while Montrel Sims chipped in 14 points.

West Craven's Tony Jones poured in 32 points for the Eagles.

Aycock built two, 10-point leads, only to see West Craven battle back from the deficits.

"They just kept coming back. They're scrappy," Aycock coach David West said. "It was one of the ugliest basketball games I've seen, but it was one of the prettiest wins."

The Falcons return to action at home on Friday against West Carteret.
