Prep soccer playoffs

AHOSKIE -- Eastern Wayne junior Adam Corley turned in his first hat trick (three goals) of his career as the Warriors rolled past Herftord County 9-0 in the second round of the Class 3-A N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs on Saturday.
Adam's twin brother, Andrew, scored twice in the second half and now has five goals in the playoffs. Chris Brown, Brian Coltrane, Joe Gossett and Joey Bero added one goal each for the Warriors, who travel to Smithfield-Selma on Wednesday for a third-round match-up.
Bobby Gambella had two assists Saturday, while Coltrane, Eric Bourgeois and Nickolai Rosinski dished out one assist each.
Eastern Wayne (15-4) outshot the Bears 20-3 and will travel to face the winner of Smithfield-Selma and Wilson Fike in the third round.
Stephen Gourley had one save in goal for Eastern Wayne as he and Stephen Stackhouse combined on the shutout. Justin Nixon had six saves for Hertford County (3-19).
Devilpups top
North Johnston
CAMP LEJEUNE -- North Johnston's Ashley Moore and Jake Lomonaco scored one goal each as the Panthers fell 6-2 in the second round of the Class 1-A N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs on Saturday.
The Panthers concluded their best season in school history at 19-4-2.
The Devilpups outscored North Johnston 3-1 in each half and went on a 5-0 scoring run to take a 6-1 lead after Moore's goal tied the game at 1-1.
Panther goalies Josh Cooper and Jay Pittman combined for six saves.
Lomonaco finished with 51 goals on the season.
Camp Lejeune hosts Rosewood on Wednesday.
Hawks fall to
W. Alamance
LAGRANGE -- Western Alamance's Wayne Montgomery scored 10 minutes into the game as the Warriors defeated North Lenoir 1-0 on Saturday at Wheat Swamp in the second round of the Class 2-A N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.
Douglas Beal had 14 saves in goal for the Hawks, who concluded the season at 12-7-2. North Lenoir received a bye into the second round after winning the Eastern Plains Conference championship.
