PIKEVILLE -- Thomas Pilkington threw a season-high four touchdown passes as the Golden Falcons (9-1) concluded a perfect campaign (8-0) in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play. It's their second title during the league's four-year existence.

Pilkington completed 10 of 17 passes for 242 yards.

Daniel Pennington snagged second-quarter touchdown passes that covered 20 and 15 yards. Chris Foreman, who had 104 yards receiving, reeled in a 65-yard scoring strike late in the second quarter.

Timothy Alston caught Pilkington's first touchdown throw -- a 16-yard aerial midway through the opening quarter.

Fred McClain emerged Aycock's top rusher with 66 yards. Joseph Toler and Kyle Williams combined for 89 yards on 12 carries.

Jarrett Covar paced the Golden Falcon defense with 10 tackles. Travis Milligan provided nine stops, while Alston contributed seven tackles. Toler added four tackles.

DUDLEY -- Michael Allen collected a team-leading 14 tackles in the Saints' victory against West Craven -- the 2002 and 2003 Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference champion -- on Thursday evening.

Dequan Cozart provided 10 tackles, while Antwan Chestnut had eight stops and recovered a fumble. Thomas Oliver recovered a fumble and picked off an Eagle pass.

"It was a good defensive game," Southern Wayne coach Trae McKee said.

West Craven avoided the shutout with a late fourth-quarter touchdown.

Anthony Council, as usual, paced the Saints offense and finished with 269 yards on 19 carries. Council accounted for both touchdowns -- runs of 70 and 89 yards -- and the two-point conversion.

Joseph Legg and Emanuel Hinton combined for 116 yards rushing.

McKee praised the offensive line, anchored by center J.D. Medlin. Ricky Odden and Josh Morgan play at left and right guard, respectively. Jeremy Hargrove, Patrick Hollowell and D.J. Hood have rotated at the tackle spots. Chestnut has been the tight end.

Hinton and Allen served as the wingbacks.

"Not only did they do a great job last night, they've done a great job all year long," McKee said. "They're a big reason we've had so much success offensively. Every one of them block as hard as they can until the whistle blows."

Southern Wayne finished the season 8-2 overall and 7-1 against ECC opposition.

Orlando Midgett accounted for two rushing touchdowns and backfield mate Andrew Blevins hit paydirt once as the Warriors seized their first Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference victory of the season.

Midgett broke loose for touchdown runs of 75 and 85 yards, and ended the night with 171 yards on the ground. Blevins rambled for an 82-yard touchdown, and finished with 104 yards on nine totes.

Nolan Lancaster intercepted a Vikings pass and recorded a team-leading 13 tackles on defense. Thomas Smith recorded 10 tackles, while Midgett and Eric Brofft each had six stops. Brofft also had a fumble hit.

Eastern Wayne finished the year 2-8 overall and 1-7 in the ECC.
