NEWTON GROVE -- Spring Creek's Tomeka Pride had four aces and six kills as the Gators swept Hobbton 25-23, 25-15, 25-19 on Wednesday in a non-conference, road match.
Spring Creek improved to 4-13 overall heading into a Class 1-A Carolina Conference game at North Johnston today.
Brittany Billups added seven kills for the Gators, while Margo Sauter served on 18 points.
Wayne Christian
falls in five
RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian won its first two sets against Trinity Christian of Raleigh, before falling 22-25, 16-25, 25-13, 25-23, 15-6 in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament play-in game.
Eagle coach Roger Longwell praised the play of his seniors -- Emily Reesman, who had nine aces and four kills and Mellisa Sheldon, who had five aces and two kills. Fellow seniors Alicia Chong and Sarah Lopez were applauded for their defensive efforts.
Wayne Christian finished its season at 9-7 overall.

Gators tally road win
NEWTON GROVE -- Spring Creek's Brittany Billups had nine kills and three aces to help lift the Gators past Hobbton 25-18, 21-25, 25-11 on Wednesday on the road.
Tasha Whitfield served on 10 points for Spring Creek (9-8), who travel to North Johnston today.
Middle School
Frink d. Savannah 25-21, 23-25, 15-7 -- Jessica Kennedy, Jamie Phillips and Jordan Hudson paced Frink from the service line. In the non-conference game, Frink defeated Savannah 25-4, 25-12. The Cavaliers concluded the season at 8-2.
