Warriors take Pam Pack in overtime
WASHINGTON -- Eastern Wayne continued its solid start in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference with a 4-2 win in overtime at Washington on Monday.
The Warriors (5-2, 3-0 ECC) got overtime goals from Andrew Corley and Joe Gossett in the 94th and 98th minute, respectively to seal the win.
In regulation, Corley scored in the first half for the Warriors, while teammate David Hook tallied a second-half goal.
Washington (6-4-2, 1-2 ECC) tied the game late in the second half to send the game into overtime.
"We played lethargically and in overtime, were dangerously close to losing the match," Eastern Wayne coach Jorg Wagner said. "Maybe, we were overconfident or just plain cocky -- either way, Washington showed us that you don't win games without playing first.
"Thankfully, our forwards (Corley and Gossett) were on target late to seal the win for us."
Eastern Wayne's Nickolai Rosinski had two assists, while Corley dished out one assist.
The Warriors host fellow conference-unbeaten West Carteret on Wednesday.

Rosewood goalie Antell Richards had eight saves as the Eagles defeated North Lenoir 1-0 in non-conference action at Branch Pope Field on Monday.
The shutout was Rosewood's second of the season as the Eagles improved to 5-5-1 overall.
Rosewood got its only goal in the eighth minute of the first half when a deflection off of a Hawk defender rolled into the net. Kenton Lowe was praised for a solid defensive game for the Eagles, who travel to North Johnston on Wednesday in Class 1-A Carolina/Super Six Conference play.

The win boosts the Patriots to 2-0 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference as the Falcons (7-3 overall) dropped to 2-1 in the ECC.
Aycock's Taylor Beamon scored the Falcons lone goal on an assist from Rich Holder in the seventh minute as a hard-fought first half finished in a 1-1 tie.
West Carteret, who outshot Aycock 20-8, went on to score three goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to steadily pull away.
