Prep soccer -- Panthers rally past Aycock

KENLY -- North Johnston scored two goals in the waning minutes to take a 4-3 win at home against Charles B. Aycock on Tuesday.
The Panthers (6-2) got a late goal on a penalty kick from Garrett Stancil and scored on a breakaway by Jake Lomonaco with under a minute left. Lomonaco, who also had a goal to tie the game at 2-2, now has 13 goals on the season.
The Golden Falcons (4-2) took a 3-2 lead on a goal by Taylor Mills from Danny Derwitz, before the Panthers clawed back. North Johnston tied the game on a penalty kick and scored the game-winner on a goal with 36 seconds left.
"Our midfield is still not playing up too far. We had more of the play in the first half and didn't put away our chances," Aycock coach Kevin Adkins said. "In the second half, they took control late and we made a mental defensive error and let it get away from us."
Aycock's Chris Mullins scored in the first half, while Derwitz posted a goal on an assist from Garrett Davis in the second half.
North Johnston's Miquel Rios opened the scoring on an assist from Corey Narron 20 minutes into the game.
Jake Bunn had seven saves in the goal for the Falcons, who outshot the Panthers 12-11. Aycock travels to Rosewood tonight. The Panthers host Southern Nash on Thursday.
