Volleyball -- WCDS falls to RM Academy

Rocky Mount Academy snapped Wayne Country Day's modest two-match win streak with a 25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24 decision Thursday afternoon in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference opener for both teams.
Heather Daughtery led the Chargers with eight aces, one kill and three digs on defense. Amanda Knutson added two aces, four kills and one dig; while Stephanie Knutson provided two aces and two kills.
Caroline Lewis added three kills and an ace. Erin Taylor contributed one ace and two kills. Ellen Elmore recorded one kill and one dig.
The Chargers (2-3) travel to Cape Fear Academy this afternoon
