Tennis -- S. Creek defeats SW Edgecombe

Junior Stacy Smith had the most difficult test of the afternoon while her Spring Creek teammates cruised in a 7-1 Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A victory against SouthWest Edgecombe at Walnut Creek.
Smith outlasted the Cougars' Brittany Laws 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Sarah Warren, Sarah Bragg, Kelly Murphy and Cynthia Breault each claimed a straight-set win in singles. Smith-Warren and Bragg-Katherina Hadler each prevailed in doubles.
Nikki Taylor claimed the Cougars' lone victory at No. 3 singles.
Spring Creek (6-1, 5-1 C/EPC) travels to defending conference champion Greene Central next Tuesday.
