Spring Creek perfect after topping Hawks
SNOW HILL -- Spring Creek remained unbeaten in five matches with after its 7-2 triumph against North Lenoir in a Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Eastern Plains Conference battle Tuesday afternoon at the Greene Central Tennis Complex.
Stacy Smith, Sarah Warren, Sarah Bragg and Cynthia Breault each earned a singles victory. The Gators (4-0 C/EPC) swept the doubles, including getting a tight 8-6 win from the No. 2 tandem of Bragg-Melanie Harlow.
Debbie Vandiford and Rachel Sasser each claimed a singles win for the Hawks.
Spring Creek entertains Tarboro High this afternoon, while North Lenoir (3-4, 2-3) plays host to Ayden-Grifton.

Golden Falcons
dominate South Central
WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock extended its 26-year conference match win streak to 272 with a 9-0 decision against Eastern Carolina 3-A opponent South Central on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons (5-1, 5-0 ECC) dropped just 10 games in their singles and doubles matches combined. They have yet to yield a point to South Central since it joined the nine-team league last season.
Raychel Batts, Leslie Sasser, Carlyn Claiborne, Nicole Taylor, Patricia Owen and Laine Purcell each picked up a singles win for the Golden Falcons. The combinations of Batts-Owen, Sasser-Claiborne and Taylor-Purcell each prevailed in doubles.
Weather permitting, Aycock is the guest of Greenfield School today.

102nd EPC victory
SNOW HILL -- Greene Central bounced back from its first loss of the season and dismantled Farmville Central 9-0 in a Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A match Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams lost just one game in singles and doubles play combined, and beat a C/EPC opponent for the 102nd consecutive time since 1993.
Meredith Rouse, Sarah Moore, Summer Chase, Holly Mace, Ashley Harrell and Christi Murphy each posted a straight-set shutout in singles. The doubles of Chase-Carolyn Turk and Michelle Jernigan-Brittany Horton each claimed a shutout, while the top-seeded Rouse-Moore won 8-1.
Greene Central (6-1, 4-0) travels to Rosewood today.

RICHLANDS -- Allison Fonvielle and Beth Parrish each escaped with a three-set thriller as James Kenan knocked off Richlands in a 9-0, non-conference affair Tuesday afternoon.
Fonvielle, the No. 2 seed, lost the opening set in a tiebreaker to the Wildcats' Erin Knott. Fonvielle stormed back for a 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4 win. Teammate Parrish, who played the No. 5 slot, split the first two sets with Jennifer Lynch before prevailing 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
Christa Jones, Erica Brown and Meagan Sanderlin each posted a singles win.
The Tigers swept the doubles including Amber Bass-Jessie Smith's 9-8 (4) nail-biter at No. 3.
James Kenan entertains Richlands at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Rosewood soars
past SW Edgecombe
Rosewood prevailed in five of six singles matches and swept the doubles in an 8-1 victory against Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A rival SouthWest Edgecombe on Tuesday afternoon.
Leah Smith, the No. 2 seed, rallied from an opening-set loss to defeat the Cougars' Meghan Rhodes 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-3. Teammates Kayce Brantham, Kourtney Humphrey, Missy Bailey and Erica Nichols each earned a straight-set singles win.
SouthWest won the No. 3 singles.
Rosewood improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in C/EPC play heading into today's match against defending conference champion Greene Central.
