Hurricanes fairing well in Florida tournament

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- The Wayne County Hurricanes 10, 12, 14, and 16 and under team are in Panama City, Florida playing the Unites States Fastpitch Association World Series.

The Canes 10-under team defeated North Alabama Rockets Gold 5-1 in its first game, before defeating Panama City 14-0 and the Georgia Gators 4-3.

Micaeala Howard picked up wins on the mound in the first two games and got the save in game three. Karyel Justo got the save in game one and won game three.

Howard added a triple and three RBI against North Alabama, while Brooke Bell, who homered, and Reagan Hinton, who had two hits, led the offensive charge against Panama City. Emily Jones doubled and had two RBI in the third game.

The 10-under team faced the Tennessee Bulldogs on Wednesday. No information was submitted on the 12, 14, 16-under teams. All teams were undefeated through 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
