DUDLEY -- Snow Hill's Hunter Chase had three hits and drove in two runs as Post 94 defeated Wayne County 11-8 in the Junior American Legion Area One East elimination game on Monday at Southern Wayne High School.

Chase also picked up the win on the mound, yielding just two hits in four innings of relief work.

After finishing first in the regular season with a 9-1 division mark, Post 11 (19-4) exits the postseason after back-to-back losses to Aycock and Snow Hill.

Post 94 now moves on to the second round and will travel to face Clayton at 7 p.m. on Thursday in another four-team, round-robin format to determine the Area One champion. Top-seeded Aycock will host the winner of North Raleigh and Garner. The first two teams with two wins advance.

In Monday's contest, Wayne County committed five costly errors, leading to seven unearned runs.

"They took advantage of the mistakes we made," Post 11 coach Trae McKee said. "It's something that hasn't plagued us all year, but we didn't make the routine plays the last two games."

The game was tied 6-6 going into the top of the sixth, before Snow Hill scored twice in the sixth and three times in the seventh to take an 11-6 lead. Wayne County bounced back with two runs in the seventh and sent the tying run to the plate before the rally and game ended.

Wayne County's offense displayed plenty of balance as Tyler Ham led the charge with two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Joey Moye had two hits and an RBI, while Garrett Barfield also had two hits.

T.J. Hinson and Billy McKinley knocked in one run each, and Brady Wiggins scored twice.

Justin Williams endured the loss on the mound, yielding six runs (three earned) in three innings of work.

Reliever Taylor Sutton gave up five runs (one earned) in four innings.

Craven Taylor added two hits, including a double, and two RBI, while Spencer Albritton had three hits and drove in a run. Richie Turner smacked a three-run home run in the top of the first inning for Snow Hill (14-9).
