Dixie Youth AAA Tournament begins

DUNN -- Wayne County opened play in the Dixie Youth AAA (8-10) baseball tournament with a 15-5 win over Mar Mac in five innings.
Russell Turner was the winning pitcher, while Brenton Billups took the loss for Mar Mac. Wayne County's leading hitters were Will Winslow, Jeremy Vincent and Matthew Dickerson, who all had two hits, while Xavier Knight hit a grand slam home run.
In the other game at Dunn, Mount Olive opened tournament play with a 15-2 win over Sampson American. Breyon Johnson and Silas Denlinger both had two hits for Mount Olive, while Johnson and Brandon Outlaw combined on four innings of pitching,
Wayne County, Mar Mac and Mount Olive are back in action at Tyler Park tonight.
