Area players selected to all-state teams

A handful of area softball players were selected to the All-State and honorable mention coaches/ihigh.com teams earlier this week.
Charles B. Aycock junior right-handed pitcher Jenny Jackson was named to the Class 3-A All-State team, while North Lenoir's Hermia Humphrey and Randi Moulton were selected to the 2-A team. Among the 1-A ranks, North Johnston's Candace Evans and Hannah Ellis were first-team selections.
On the honorable mention teams, Southern Wayne's Dominique Williams and Aycock's Kandace Burroughs were 3-A honorable mention, while North Lenoir's Morgan Worthington (2-A) and North Johnston's Amanda Pope (1-A) were also honorable mention.
Players were nominated for the honors by their coaching staff, as well as statewide media.
The All-state selections are also finalists for the Miss NCHSAA Softball award. A group of coaches and media will vote for the Miss NCHSAA Softball, which will be announced next Monday.

Spring Creek's Snyder
makes 1-A team
Spring Creek senior shortstop Jes Snyder was selected to the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association 2004 All-State 1-A baseball team earlier this week.
Snyder, who hit .477 with three home runs and 25 RBI in his senior season, proved to be the only player from the area selected to an all-state baseball team.
