SNOW HILL -- Aycock Junior Legion's Brandon Price drove in his teams fourth run in the top of the seventh and picked up the win in 11-3 innings of relief work as Aycock emerged a 5-3 winner at Snow Hill on Thursday.

Price pitched out of a couple of jams during his relief stint and kept Post 94 off of the scoreboard.

Bennett Jeffreys drove in Price for Aycock's fifth run in the seventh. Joseph Toler put Aycock on the board with a two-run double earlier in the game, while Thomas Pilkington added an RBI single.

Snow Hill scored two runs in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.

Garrett Davis started and pitched four innings for Aycock. Grant Sasser tossed one and 2Ú3 innings of relief work.

Drew Sowers picked up the loss for Post 94, which face Lenoir County at home on Saturday.

Aycock (7-2, 4-2) hosts West Craven tonight at 7 p.m.

Trojans ink Seattle soccer standout

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive head men's soccer coach Jerry Riggs announced he has signed midfielder Cason Cherry of Seattle, Wash., to a national letter of intent to play for the Trojans next fall.

Cherry is the seventh recruit to sign with MOC this spring.

Cherry helped lead Shorewood High School to back-to-back appearances in the Washington 4A state tournament, including a runner-up finish in the 2003 tournament. Cherry scored one goal and seven assists in 2004 after recording four goals and nine assists during his junior year. He also tallied 13 goals and four assists for his club team to help lead his squad to the 2003-04 state championship.

"Cason will be another good addition to our freshman class and I'm excited to sign him," said Riggs. "Not only is he a good soccer player, he's a good student as well."For the week ending July 13, Cathy Calhoun won low net. Jelette Culbreth won game of the week, while Rosemary Lutcavage took low putts.

Lane Tree Ladies Golf

Lane Tree was represented at the East Carolina Ladies Golf Association tournament at Brook Valley Country Club.

Donna Adams took second low gross in the first flight. In the first flight, Libby Newsome won first low net. Calhoun took first low net in the second flight, and Betty Jean Gurley was second low net in the second flight.

Novella Zambelli took top honors in Tuesday's play of the day, throw-out tournament. Low gross for the day went to Sue Wilson, while Hanny Cornella claimed low net. Low putts went to Faye Franklin.

Summer tee-time will begin on July 6 and continue through Aug. 31. Sign-in by 9 a.m. with tee-time at 9:30 a.m.
