Prep Track -- GC claims another EPC crown

The Greene Central girls track team finished 11-0 and won the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference for the fourth consecutive year.

In 2003, the Rams were third in the regionals and 12th in the state.

The following is a list of team members that has qualified for the 2004 regional to be held at Edenton High School on Saturday.

Shontay Dodd, Olisa Thaggard, Mirriam Sheppard, Teketia May, Siera Bryant, Torre Parks, Amanda Holloman, Alicia Best, Briana Stanton, Nicole Robinson, Diandra Tyson and Rosetony Carmon.

Goldsboro Track Club trio shines

Three Goldsboro Track Club youth made their USA Track & Field Junior Olympics Developmental season debut with outstanding performances at the Cape Fear Invitational in Wilmington.

Bernard Green (9-10) earned two second-place finishes in the 100 meters (16.03) and 200 meters (31.96) and seventh in the 400 meters.

Kiante Powell (11-12) finished second in the 100 meters (14.79), third in the 200 meters (28.34) and fifth in the 400 meters (1:13.3).

Minek Ford (11-12) took third in the 100 meters (15.23), fifth in the 200 meters (29.87) and eighth in the 400 meters.
