Prep soccer roundup -- Rosewood drops SouthWest; Warriors cruise past W. Craven

Rosewood's Erin Thibodeau posted four goals, including a hat-trick (three goals), in the first half as the Eagles stormed to a 9-0 shutout over SouthWest Edgecombe in their regular season finale.

Thibodeau, who had 40 goals as a freshman, has 38 goals in her sophomore campaign heading into the Classes 1-A/2-A N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs. Thibodeau scored three goals in a five-minute stretch in the middle of the first half as Rosewood took a 4-0 lead into intermission.

Rosewood (14-3, 10-2 Classes 2-A Eastern Plains/1-A Carolina/Super-Six) will host the North State Conference's third seed in the first round of the playoffs on May 11.

Stephanie Behrend knocked in two goals on Monday, while Rachel McCormick also added two goals and Clare Narron provided one. Behrend dished out three assists as McCormick, Thibodeau and Amber Kriger had one assist each.

Warriors blank West Craven

Eastern Wayne defeated Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference opponent West Craven 9-0 at home on Monday.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 6-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play heading into Wednesday's regular season finale at home against Charles B. Aycock.

Eastern Wayne is locked into the ECC's fourth playoff spot and will travel to the Big Eight South's third seed on May 11.

No further information was given on Monday's match.

Area games postponed

Charles B. Aycock's home game with South Central on Monday was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The Golden Falcons will host South Central on Friday at 5 p.m.

Spring Creek's trip to North Lenoir was also cancelled. As of Monday's press time, no further information was provided on a make-up date.

Wayne Country Day did not play at non-conference opponent Flora-McDonald Monday. No make-up date has been announced.

North Johnston's road tilt at Tarboro was moved to Thursday.
