Wayne Christian retains unbeaten string, tops Cresset
DURHAM -- Wayne Christian's Jonathan Greene fired a 37 as the Eagles remained unbeaten with a 161-177 victory over Cresset Christian Academy in Durham on Monday.
Wayne Christian improved to 14-0 overall and 5-0 in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference play.
Clark Rose and Matt Davis added 41's for the Eagles, while Andrew Radford posted a 42 and Chad Smith shot 43.
Wayne Christian returns to action today in a road contest against Community Christian.
Rams finish first in EPC
TARBORO -- Greene Central finished with 312 team points, good for second place in a Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference match at Cotton Valley Country Club on Monday.
For the season, the Rams took first place overall and won the conference crown.
North Lenoir, who won Monday's meet with 311 team points, took third overall in the conference behind SouthWest Edgecombe. South Lenoir, Tarboro and North Pitt finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
In Monday's meet, South Lenoir's Austin Hardison, named the conference's MVP, fired a two-under 70 to win the meet.
The Hawks were led by Blair Cruz with a 75 and James Parker's 78. Greene Central's Brandon Jones shot a 72, while Colby Murphy posted a 78.
Murphy, Jones and Daniel Creech were named to the all-conference team for the Rams (29-8-1, 25-4-1 ECC), while Ryan Fischer (Tarboro) and Spence Fullford (SouthWest Edgecombe) also made all-conference.
The 2-A Eastern Regionals begin May 3 at Maccripine Country Club.

For the week ending April 25, Linda Hilburn won low net. The game of the week was won by Libby Newsome.
Newsome and Theresa Shearin won low putts.
