Track -- C.B. Aycock sweeps ECC foes

DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock's girls swept the relays and picked up valuable points in the 800-meter run in en route to sweeping an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tri-meet hosted by Southern Wayne.

The Golden Falcons picked up 84 points and the Saints had 51. Washington was third with 35.

Artralia Williams (discus), Amy Fryt (200), Brandy Hardison (800) and Liza Davis (3,200) each claimed an individual win. Aycock coach Trevor Pilkington said the key event was the 800 where his team seized the top four spots for a combined 10 points.

Southern Wayne's Christy Dixon emerged a triple winner with strong efforts in the long jump, triple jump and 100.

Meanwhile, Aycock's boys won two relays and captured first place in seven individual events en route to a 126.5-61 decision against the Pam Pack. The Saints amassed 52.5 points.

Keith Cobb earned first in the 100 and 200, while long-distance runner Michael Scott prevailed in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs. The Golden Falcons also got individual victories from Jamorris Dickerson (high jump), Omar Rowe (discus) and Chris Hubbard (300 hurdles).
