Will Daniel shook off two weeks of rust and helped Spring Creek cruise past SouthWest Edgecombe 7-2 in a Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A match Thursday afternoon at Walnut Creek Country Club.

Daniel played well and handed the Cougars' Derrick Turner a 6-3, 6-2 loss at No. 1 singles.

"I thought Will did pretty well considering he hasn't played in two weeks," Gators coach Robert Jones said. "(Cliff) Wilson-(Grey) Wilson played some really good doubles."

The siblings shut out SouthWest's Turner-Jackson Perry 8-0.

Spring Creek claimed five of six singles matches and two of three doubles.

The Gators (11-1, 10-1 C/EPC) entertains unbeaten Greene Central next Tuesday afternoon. They visit Tarboro High for a doubleheader next Wednesday afternoon.

SouthWest is 9-9 overall.
