DUDLEY — Southern Wayne freshman Rachel Reynolds smacked three hits, including a double and a home run and drove in three as the Saints edged county-rival Rosewood 9-8 in non-conference action on Wednesday.

The two teams, who meet again Friday at Rosewood, got off to a roaring start offensively. Roswood scored six in the first two innings, while the Saints notched five in the second.

Southern Wayne’s Leslie Darden went the full, seven-innings on the mound and picked up the win.

The Saints also got two hits each from Karen Thornton and Danielle Wilkins.

Rosewood was paced at the plate by Courtney Hill, who had two hits and four RBI, and Abigail Barrow with two hits, three runs and three RBI. Jennifer Boren and Bliss Parrish had two hits each for the Lady Eagles.

Chandra Meadows picked up the loss in relief for Rosewood.

LAGRANGE — North Lenoir’s Brittany Sanders gave up one hit and struck out nine as the Hawks cruised to a 7-0 win at home over Wilson Beddingfield in non-conference play on Wednesday.

Rachel Cromer paced North Lenoir at the plate with four hits, including a home run, triple and three RBI.

Leslie Oliver added three hits, while Lauren Hudson smacked two hits for the Hawks (2-0), who host East Duplin at home on Friday.
