Wilson's 3-pointers help bury Cyclones

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek's Grey Wilson buried three three-pointers to open the third period as the Gators avenged a loss earlier in the season to Community Christian of Wilson with a 66-53 win at home.

Spring Creek went on to outscore the Cyclones 22-10 in the crucial third period. The Gators' Josh Bishop scored seven of his team-high 20 points in the third. Bishop also had 10 assists as he continues a stellar junior campaign.

Brian Armstrong added 10 points for Spring Creek, while Shane Stevenson scored nine and pulled down six rebounds.

The Gators (17-6) travel to North Johnston on Friday with second place in the Class 1-A Carolina Conference already secured.

Eagles' win

GREENVILLE -- Wayne Christian's Andrew Bircher scored 10 points, including a shot at the buzzer to lift the Eagles to a 63-62 win at Trinity Christian of Greenville on Tuesday.

Wayne Christian drilled 15 three-pointers, compared to seven two-point baskets on the game.

Antonio Simms led the Eagles with 27 points, while Daniel Chewning added 10 in Wayne Christian's final regular season game.

Chargers clinch

Carolina title

KENLY -- North Johnston's Jake Lomonaco posted 16 points as the Panthers fell 67-54 at home to Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.

With the win, the Chargers (14-6, 10-1) clinched the Carolina 1-A Conference regular season title.

Ayden-Grifton was led by Jamal Rouse with 21 points and Tyshawn Hall with 18 points.

Brad Holloman added nine in the loss for the Panthers (8-14, 4-7), who host second-place Spring Creek on Friday.

FARMVILLE -- Princeton's Karter Yutzy scored 27 points to help the Bulldogs take a 45-39 fourth period lead before Farmville came back to win 57-54 in overtime.

Brandon Pate added 15 points for the Bulldogs, including four three-pointers. Princeton finishes regular season play at home aginst Rosewood on Friday.

Princeton (3-18, 1-10 CC) managed just nine-of-19 from the free-throw line in the game.

Tarboro High

TARBORO -- Greene Central's Charles Gamble scored 18 points to help boost Greene Central to an 89-77 win over Tarboro High on Tuesday on the road.

The win improved the Rams to 11-12 overall and 5-4 against Eastern Plains 2-A Conference competition.

Jonathan Gage, Teddie Waters and Junior Kesslebach tallied 15 points each in the win, while Kenny Smith added 10 points.

Tarboro was paced by Tim Vines, who scored 24 points.

The Rams travel to South Lenoir Friday as the winner will likely clinch third place in the conference.

PIKEVILLE -- Eastern Wayne's Monty Best and Landon Downes scored 21 points each as the Warriors defeated Charles B. Aycock 76-68.

Eastern Wayne (8-10) improved to 7-8 in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference.

Brandon Hayes led the Golden Falcons (11-10, 8-7 ECC) with 18 points, while Lamada Williams added 14. Brandon Williams and Chris Foreman scored 11 and 10 points, respectively for Aycock.

Niel Robinson posted 15 points and Terrel Boseman contributed 10 for the Warriors.

Faith finishes

with MACAA win

Faith Christian's Aaron Sladick scored 21 points to guide the Conquerors to a season-closing, 49-45 win against Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association foe Bethel Christian of Kinston on Tuesday.

Faith finished the season at 11-6 overall.

T.J. Sasser added 13 points in the win.
