RHS girls win Carolina indoor track title

Rosewood cruised to a victory in the frst-ever Carolina 1-A Conference indoor trac meet, held Friday at the Eagles' facility.

The Eagles scored 69 points, easily beating second-place North Johnston's 49 points, Princeton was third with 39 points and Spring Creek was fourth with 25 points.

Rosewood was paced by Kerry Garner, who won the long jump (15-6) and the 500 meters (1:32.94); Heather Murray, winner of the triple jump (28-2) and the 55 meters (10:57); and Sa'Coya Cox, who won the 300 meters (49.81) and was second in the 55 meters (7.80).

Charlotta Atkinson led North Johnston, winning the 55 meters (7.71) and finishing second in the long jump (14-9).

Princeton's Summer Graham won the 1000 meters (3:33), the 1600 (5:49) and the 3200 (13:45) to pace the Lady Bulldogs, while Courtney Yancey claimed the high jump (3-9).

Spring Creek saw Crystal Bright win the shot put (26-7) and Jennifer Johsnon finish second in the triple jump (28-1 1/2).

The boys' conference champinoship meet is slated for Monday and will be moved to Wednesday if Monday's meet is rained out.

Bell leads Gators over weekend

PRINCETON -- Spring Creek's Dalress Bell scored 66 points in a two-day stretch as the Gators claimed a couple of wins over the weekend.

Spring Creek topped Princeton Saturday 72-49 after taking out Rosewood 77-44.

Bell scored 29 points in Saturday's win, while Josh Wright and Cliff Wilson added 16 each.

Wright and Wilson scored 13 and 10 points, respectively against Rosewood on Friday.
