DAVID L. WHITE

March 21, 1931-March 24, 2018

David Lee "Dave" White, 87, Seven Springs, received his heavenly reward Saturday, March 24, 2018.

Dave was born March 21, 1931, in Clendenin, W.Va., to the late Bert Reed White and Dolly Marie Knopp White.

Dave's first job was working as a paper boy. He would arise at 5 a.m. and deliver newspapers all over town on his bike before school.

Dave graduated from Clendenin High School in 1948, and joined the United States Navy. He served on a minesweeper, and escorted ship convoys all over the world to sweep mines from the beaches in preparation for troop landings.

Following his discharge from active duty, he served two years in the Marine Corps Reserve working in a heavy equipment division.

During his working career, Dave worked with General Motors, AP Parts and Goldsboro Milling Co.

A true patriot, Dave enjoyed studying United States history.

Dave had his private pilot's license, and enjoyed many happy moments flying over God's beautiful creation.

A man of strong faith, Dave worshipped his Lord at Seven Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Dave loved to cook, and thought everything tasted great with red pepper and hot sauce.

Dave treasured early mornings on the front porch with a warm cup of coffee, admiring God's beauty and reflecting on his upcoming day.

A service to celebrate and honor Dave's life will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Seven Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Seven Springs Cemetery.

Dave is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jean Jones White; five children, Lori D'Amico and husband, John, Cheryl Joynes and husband, John, Jennifer Matheny, Susan Price Harper and husband, Hugh, and Robby Price and fianceé, Laurie; brother, Darrell White and wife, Peggy; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
