George Wolfskeil Jr., 87, Goldsboro, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
George was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on July 20, 1930, to the late George and Clara Snyder Wolfskeil. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. George retired as a structural superintendent with the 4th C.E.S. Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Discussion Sunday School Class. George lived a life of dedication to his family and friends, and to his community. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M. and was a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite.
A service to celebrate George's life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Dan Baer and the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at 1 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.
George is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha Smith Wolfskeil; daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Keith, of Pikeville; granddaughter, Melissa Carr and husband, Ed; two great-grandchildren, Madison Batton and Makenzie Batton; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, George Allen Wolfskeil; sisters, Arlene Wolfskeil Wills and Ruth Wolfskeil Rhodes; and brother, Gordon Wolfskeil.
Flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530 or to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, 950 Faris Road, Greenville, S.C., 29605.
