GRACE D. HARDY

Oct. 24, 1947-Jan. 12, 2018

Grace Dawson Hardy, 70, Seven Springs, was called to her heavenly reward Friday, Jan. 12, 2018.

Grace was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Lenoir County to the late Clinton Adam Dawson and Della Pelletier Dawson.

Grace's love of children served her well during a 31-year career with Wayne County Public Schools.

A proud two-time cancer survivor, her warm smile and positive attitude were an inspiration to many. Grace enjoyed life to the fullest, and had a special way of making everyone feel better about themselves when crossing her path.

Grace enjoyed being at home, and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed cooking, and was always eager to try out a new recipe.

Grace developed a love for painting, and found great enjoyment in painting land and seascapes.

A lady of strong faith, Grace was a vital part in the ministry of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. She had served as lay reader, teacher and youth advisor, and loved singing in the choir. Heaven has truly gained a special lady.

A service to celebrate and honor Grace's life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Grace is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Bryan Hardy; a special niece Grace thought of as a daughter, Darlene Eason Pendergrass; a special cousin and friend, Cora Creech; along with a number of other very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by three siblings, Merle Eason, J.B. Dawson and Roger Dawson.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
