HAZEL T. KELLY

HAZEL T. KELLY

May 9, 1921-Jan. 12, 2018

Mrs. Hazel Tippett Kelly, longtime Faison resident, was welcomed into God's presence Friday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2018, while at Universal Healthcare in Lillington. Death came for her unexpectedly even at 96 years of age.

Mrs. Hazel, a true Faison icon, had served the town as town clerk for many years.

She was a member of Faison Baptist Church, and was active in many functions of the church.

Remembered for her zest for life, she truly was an amazing lady, fiercely independent, and maintained her own residence until the age of 95.

Known as "Hazey" by grandchildren and family, she possessed a sweet, jovial and gracious spirit, and was thankful in all things.

A classy, well-dressed Faisonite, she was a true Southern belle.

Family, friends and townspeople will gather Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. to celebrate her long and happy life. Services will be at Faison Baptist Church, and will be led by pastor Andy Beard and pastor Paul Rose, followed by burial in Faison Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Faison Baptist Church, P.O. Box 280, Faison, N.C., 28341.

Surviving family members include a daughter, Linda Kelly Sutton of Goldsboro; a son, Robert Stanley Kelly Jr. and wife, Gayle F. Kelly, of Benson; seven grandchildren, Dawn Phillips of Southern Pines, Eldon Dwight Sutton Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Goldsboro, Robert Stanley Kelly III of Faison, Kyle C. Kelly of Fuquay-Varina and Tiffany Farthling, Robert Farthling and Justin Farthling all of Benson; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Loved ones who preceded her in death include her husband, Robert Stanley Kelly; her parents, Otwell F. Tippett and Maleta Pate Tippett; a brother, Earl Tippett; and two sisters, Edna Rhodes and Shula Marian McGhee.

A Tyndall service, Mount Olive.
