PEGGY LANCASTER GURLEY

PEGGY LANCASTER GURLEY

Sept. 19, 1933-Nov. 6, 2017

Peggy Lancaster Gurley, 84, Pikeville, was called home Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.

Peggy was born in Wayne County Sept. 19, 1933, to the late Norman and Patsy Mae Howell Lancaster.

She had worked with her husband on the farm for many years, and because of her love for flowers, she later began working with Pinewood Florist until her retirement.

Peggy was a beautiful person whose loving spirit and ever present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life.

She was deeply devoted to her family, and was happiest when she was spending time with them.

Peggy loved God, and was a longtime member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Peggy loved life and the life she had with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

God has blessed her with all his love. She will live forever in all our hearts. We will see her one day in heaven; she is at rest now in the arms of God. He was her strength and ours, too.

A service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service and other times at her home.

Interment will be Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Gurley Family Cemetery at her home.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 67 years, John William Gurley; daughters, Donna Mozingo (Jim) and Terry Houston; grandchildren, Angel Webb (Jamie), Mandy Smith (Jamie), John Radford (Natalie) and Jamie Lynn O'Callahan (Ben); and great-grandchildren, Baillie, Madison, Morgan, Emily, Jake, Noah, Tylan, Gage, Jace, Layton and Haven.

She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Evans and Priscilla Head, and brother, Chris Lancaster.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Gurley; great-granddaughter, Jaylee Grace O'Callahan; brother, N.W. Lancaster; and sister, Marlene Lancaster.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
