DEACON THINDELL SUGGS

Jan. 29, 1950-Sept. 17, 2017

Deacon Thindell Suggs, son of the late James and Dorothy Suggs, was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Snow Hill, N.C. He departed this earthly life to eternal rest Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at home.

Thindell attended and graduated from Norwayne High School in Fremont, N.C., in 1969.

After graduating high school, he worked for R.G. Barry's of Goldsboro until its closing in 1991.

He then was in employed at Acme United Corp. until his declining health in 2011.

He volunteered for several years at Harvest Food Bank in Goldsboro, N.C.

Thindell was a valuable, helpful, thoughtful, talkative, caring and compassionate being within his community.

He joined First Baptist Eureka April 2, 1983. He was an ordained deacon, and for many years, served as president of the usher board, and he was an active member of the executive board.

April 24, 1971, he was united in holy matrimony to Cora Spruill. To this union, two children were born.

He was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother and friend.

He was devoted to his family, and leaves a legacy of love to his beloved wife, Cora Suggs of the home; one daughter, Monica "Nisey" Ferrol (Cory Deloatch) of Fayetteville, N.C.; one son, Kelvin (Tiffany) Suggs of Hampton, Va.; he leaves behind his pride and joy his five grandchildren, London Suggs of Alexandria, Va., Anissa Ferrol of Fayetteville, N.C., C.J. Deloatch of Fayetteville, N.C., Mara Suggs of Hampton, Va., and Jalen Deloatch of Fayetteville, N.C.

He leaves behind four loving siblings, one brother, Marion (Peggy) Suggs of Wilson, N.C., three sisters, Edna (William) Brown of Clinton, Md., Linda (Billy) McClain of Eureka, N.C., and Deborah (Daniel) Uzzell of Wilson, N.C.; one surviving uncle, D.H. Hobbs of Eureka, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

One niece/granddaughter, Caila Spruill.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Eureka. Pastor Fred Pressley officiating.

Viewing will be held today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services of love and compassionate care entrusted to Serenity Memorial Funeral Home.
