Maggie Lucile Jones Whaley, 85, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Mrs. Whaley was born April 27, 1932, to the late Jimmy and Hazel Talton Jones.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Whaley graduated from Pikeville High School, class of 1950, and was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) graduate of Wayne Community College.

She was previously employed with Weils and Brodys Department Store of Goldsboro.

She is survived by two sons, John Whaley and wife, Vicki, of Winston-Salem and Jeff Whaley of Bailey; daughter, Connie Whaley of Patetown; three grandchildren, Jessica Whaley Best, Megan Whaley and Fletcher Whaley; and three great-grandchildren, Toby Best, Emma Creech and Jameson Creech.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Dixon "J.D." Whaley, and four brothers, Raymond "Buck" Jones, Kenneth R. Jones, James Jones and Ralph Jones.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
