WILLIAM PETER CERNY

William Peter Cerny, 78, Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord Saturday, July 1, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Pete was born in New York City Feb. 13, 1939, to the late William and Millicent Cerny.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Pete was a man of God, and served his community as a pastor.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday,
July 6, 2017, at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service
at 2 p.m. in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Kirkland officiating.

Pete is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gay Woodard Cerny; daughter, Letitia Bridgeman and husband, Austin, of Washington, N.C.; sons, William P. "Bill" Cerny II and wife, Chasity, of Pikeville, John Cerny and wife, Susan, of Washington, N.C., Aaron Cerny of Roanoke, Va., Joseph Cerny and wife, Jessica, of Goldsboro and Benjamin Cerny of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Cerny.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Free Heart Ministry, 208 North Herman St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Community Home Care and Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
