NELAS VAN SUTTON

Nelas Van Sutton, 91, died Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Whit and Vertie Sutton, and was the husband of 64 years to Jean B. Sutton of Mount Olive.
Nelas was a member of Brownings United Methodist Church in Mount Olive and a member of Mill Creek Lodge No. 125 of Newton Grove.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, and had retired as an electrician with Sutton Electric Co. of Mount Olive.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at Clinton Cemetery, with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife, Nelas is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sederis S. and Roger Rhodes of Goldsboro; two brothers, Dennis Sutton of Mount Olive and Morris Sutton of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; three sisters. Faye Phillips of Charlotte, Linda Creech of Goldsboro and Lorraine Willeford of Danville, Va.; and his granddaughter; Macie Corinne Whitfield of Goldsboro.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
