BENNIE R. REAVES

Bennie Ray Reaves, 80, lifelong resident of the Dudley and Mount Olive areas, passed away Saturday night, May 20, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.
His life will be remembered in a service to be held Tuesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Officiating will be pastor Carroll Overman and the Rev. Dustin Bannister.
Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service.
Interment will be Wednesday, May 24, following an 11 a.m. committal service in Maplewood Cemetery.

Bennie is remembered as being a wonderful son, great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
To all who would allow, he was the best friend that could be had.
His working career was as varied as his interests -- he had been a salesman with John Patterson Furniture Co. and had been a self-employed farmer, and his last venture was that of owning and operating Reaves Auto Sales.
He was a member of Rhodes Friends Meeting, and was a former member of Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving family members include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Ann Jernigan Reaves; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Reaves Page and Ron Page of Dudley; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike "Turtle" and Charlotte Price Reaves of Dudley; four beloved grandchildren, Amber Jones Knight and husband, Tony, of Charleston, S.C., Tara Jones Davidson and husband, Jonan, of Goldsboro, and Tammi Elizabeth Reaves and Daniel Reaves both of Dudley; four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Jackson, Nathan Ray Davidson, Elise Knight and Kelsey Davidson; a stepgreat-grandson, Jay Davidson; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra R. and Ray Weeks of Mount Olive; sisters-in-law, Karen S. Reaves of Mount Olive, Maggie J. Barwick and Hilda J. Kelly both of Mount Olive and Peggy L. Jernigan of Dudley; several nieces and nephews; and an extended member of the family, Wellie Pearsall.
Bennie was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony Glenn Reaves; his parents, Milford Daniel Reaves and Sarah Louise Grady Reaves; a brother, Jerry Daniel Reaves; a sister and brother-in-law, Hilda R. and Robert Barwick; his parents-in-law, Harvey Jernigan and Margaret Lane Jernigan; sister-in-law, Eunice J. Rains, and brother-in-law, Tommy Rains; and other brothers-in-law, Harvey Jernigan, Aaron Barwick and George Kelly.
