JAMES E. HOLLINGSWORTH
April 28, 1931-April 9, 2017
James Evon Hollingsworth, 85, LaGrange, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, April 9, 2017, while surrounded by his family.
James was born in Sampson County April 28, 1931, to the late Carmal and Bertha Fann Hollingsworth.
He had served as a barber for 28 years with the BX Barber Shop on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Adamsville Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Paul Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
James is survived by his wife, Lalon Barefoot Hollingsworth; children, David Hollingsworth and special friend, Denise, of Goldsboro, Carl Hollingsworth and wife, Christy, of LaGrange and Donna H. Hawkins of LaGrange; grandchildren, Kyle Hollingsworth, Jarrett Hollingsworth, Lisa Hollingsworth, Crystal Jones and Christopher Edwards; and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters and one brother.
Special thanks to his wonderful neighbors, church friends and the nurses and doctors who cared for James and his family in so many kind and thoughtful ways through the years and during this time of loss, as well as his special friends, Russell Dawley, Ellis McClenney and Sam Brady.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Adamsville Baptist Church, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
